Awards and Accreditations

  • Award - Barnet’s Building Control wins a brick

Re’s building control team won the Bricks & Mortar Partnership Award at The Bricks, organised by local authority building control surveying firm LABC Warranty.

The partnership award recognises work between the council, Re and LABC Warranty, and our high standards in specific areas of building, such as foundations, substructure, superstructure, finishes and site organisation, as well as past surveying records.

Development sites had to display a high standard in technical competency and build quality, while site and project managers had to demonstrate first-class organisational skills and customer service.

There are currently many major development projects happening in Barnet and thousands of new homes are being built in the borough, as part of a wider regeneration programme.

“I find the proactive nature of the building control department refreshing. They have completely bought into the idea of joint working and are always on hand to lend advice and support from a business development perspective.”

Julian Roper, sales manager at LABC Warranty

  • Award - Re wins Exceptional Retailer Support Award

The Brent Cross Retail Job Shop, established by the London Borough of

Barnet, Re, the Brent Cross Shopping Centre and Job Centre plus in October 2014, was awarded a certificate of ‘Exceptional Retailer Support’ at the annual Brent Cross Customer Services Awards.

Since its launch, The Job Shop has engaged with over 40 employers including Fenwicks, Marks & Spencer, Mothercare, Monsoon, Charles Tyrwhitt and Victoria Secret, and to date has found employment for over 93 previously unemployed applicants.

“We’re really proud of the impact the Job Shop has had in only 12 months. This scheme has ensured that people have better access to new jobs and that employers have a bigger pool of potential talent to recruit from. The award we’ve received is a testament to the hard work that all the partners have put into the project.’’

    Mark Dally, partnership director, Capita

  • Accreditation - Cemetery and Crematorium

In 2015 Councillor Richard Cornelius, Leader of Barnet Council, presented our employees at Hendon Cemetery & Crematorium with the prestigious Silver Award accredited by the Institute of Cemetery & Cremation Management (ICCM). We are proud to announce that we followed this up quickly with the Gold Award, which we achieved in March 2016.

These awards are testament to the high level of care provided by the team.

  • Accreditation - Building Control

The Construction Industry Council (CIC) accepted the Building Control Service’s application to become an Approved Inspector (AI). This will allow the business unrestricted access to compete for the provision of all types of building regulations work anywhere in England and therefore is a significant opportunity.

The Planning Service has also secured a commission to undertake pre application advice work for Bromley’s Local Planning Authority. This follows on from planning appeal work carried out for the London Borough of Bromley last year and is testament to the growing quality and reputation of the Planning Service being provided to the Authority.
