Supporting Dying Matters Awareness Week

During the week of 14 May, for the first time our team at Hendon Cemetery and Crematorium in Barnet supported ‘Dying Matters Awareness Week’. The aim of the week is to raise the importance of talking about dying, death and bereavement.

To coincide with the week, the team held their first open event which was well attended by funeral directors, local businesses and residents. We were also pleased to have support from Noah’s Ark Hospice.

Guests at the event got a tour of the grounds, got to see the new Mausoleum Courtyard and hear about the plans for the Gatehouse refurbishment project.

Special guests at the event were the Clements Family from San Diego. The team assisted the family in early 2017, and subsequently went on to win the Customer Choice Award at the Barnet Our Star Awards in 2017 following their submission to the awards for excellent service provided by the team.

On Thursday 17 May, we hosted the 2017-18 Mayor of Barnet and the Queens representative, Deputy Lieutenant Martin Russell, they had a tour of the grounds and congratulated the team for their recent awards.

If you or anyone you know is struggling with a bereavement or you don’t know the best way to talk about death and dying, we have a range of leaflets in the cloisters of the South Chapel to help you.
